The Naked Gun 2025
I loved Airplane when it came out and remember being really excited about the TV series Police Squad, but that series ran through all of the cliches pretty quickly. Seems like the movie was decent enough. It has been long enough that there are new cliches to make fun of, so they got Liam Neeson for a re-boot. It seems like the first fifteen minutes of the movie is mostly the funny stuff that was shown in the trailers and then it slows down a little. But there are still some good jokes along the way. In the end I felt like the movie was about what I expected, but based on surprisingly good reviews, I thought it might be better somehow. With the huge wealth of CSI shows and other police procedurals it seems like there should be a wealth of material to make fun of, but they play it safe by just having a mastermind bad guy out to destroy the world. But he is a straight man, so they don't get much humor out of him, except maybe when he gets into a fight towards the end. I feel like the movie could have used more characters instead of focusing so much on Neeson and Pamela Anderson. Still, it is probably worth watching if you like this kind of thing.
